I so love seeing Marius being made to look silly! If Cosette does like pets, I can imagine a follow-up to this with Javert taking the ichthyostega for a stroll and Cosette being enchanted by it. Valjean makes himself scarce, and Marius comes back to find Javert chatting up Cosette and the ichthyostega sitting on her lap. Probably having its tummy tickled. :)
